2010 in Reflection; a List

New Years is a good time to look forward to the possibilities ahead of you – but at some point it’s good to look back at the year behind you and reflect. I love making lists so here it is: a list of what I’ve discovered; loved and hated through the last year.

Movies:

ALICE IN WONDERLAND – this zany flick just keeps getting stranger. Johny Depp is amazing and I think, more often than not, I love whatever he’s in.
HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON – Animated movie of the year by far.
KILLERS – A fun movie reminiscent of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, which I adored.
THE SORCERER’S APPRENTICE – Maybe it’s nerdy but I loved this movie and Nicholas Cage as well.
THE OTHER GUYS – I might catch some flack for this but I hated this movie. Intensely. Will Ferrell can be funny but this was remarkably stupid and not even the funny kind of stupid.
EAT, PRAY, LOVE – If ever there was a movie that spoke to a soul this would be it. Deep, smart and moving.
MORNING GLORY – A cute “chick flick” about balancing a career and a love life and the challenges therein.
TRON – Not so much enjoyed for the story line but the visual graphics were pretty amazing.

Books:  (Not released this year but read this year.)

CATCHER IN THE RYE – I don’t know how many times I’ve read this book – probably 100 – but it remains one of my favorites.
FRIDAY NIGHT KNITTING CLUB – Oh the shame of a good chick-lit book. I loved curling up with a cup of tea and reading this book about the relationships women share and the ties of friendship.
A MILLION LITTLE PIECES – James Frey spells out drug addiction in a gritty way.. but I enjoy his style of writing.

Ingredients:

ORECCHIETTE – Loving the shell shaped pasta. It holds sauce well and has a lovely, hearty bite.
RAPINI –  Also known as Broccoli Rabe. Really into bitter and sour flavors lately.
CHICKEN – I’m always going to love the versatility of chicken.
BISON – Ground is the only way I’ve had it  so far – love it!
PICKLED BRUSSEL SPROUTS – Delicious snack!
COLBY JACK CHEESE – Who doesn’t love cheese?
HARD BOILED EGGS – Wasn’t always a big fan but the love is growing!

Restaurants:

Paying homage to Panera Bread here because they know me by name and leave me alone while I sit and blog every morning. It’s a friend morning crew – good brew, too!

What I’m looking forward to in 2011:

  • Learning how to repair and create jewelery at Jared the Galleria of Jewelery’s Repair shop
  • Going back to school for my Communications degree
  • American Idol – I can’t help it, I’m addicted!
  • Traveling somewhere great – I’m thinking Las Vegas, for my vacation this summer
  • Getting a new camera
  • Spending time with NPC and Lily
  • Trying out some new restaurants around town
  • Blogging and working on my book!

So many great things come and gone – and looking forward to things to come!
